About us
Esmaltaciones La EstrelllaEsmaltaciones La Estrella
ESMALTACIONES LA ESTRELLA SCL founded in 1985 by a group of cooperative members with experience in the sector, convinced of the viability of a labor project with the aim of manufacturing and marketing enameled steel kitchenware products.
Throughout this first quarter of a century, evolution in manufacturing techniques and experience have made it possible to offer a wide range of products of proven quality and design. The project marks a new milestone with the opening in 2002 of a new factory, which combines technological innovation and commitment to the environment.
VALUES
Values that have been contributing to its historical evolution:
Responsibility
The cooperative identity implies a corporate responsibility with the environment where it is located: local development, social actions, social participation, equal opportunities, trust, solidarity, …
Quality of life
Achieve values linked to the well-being and personal and work conciliation of the cooperative’s members and workers. And likewise contribute to the technical quality of technical processes.
Teamwork
Contribute to personal and professional development, creating a culture that improves the services provided, based on learning from experience and ethical behavior.

Factory and production process
From the beginning, it has been considered as an integral unit, comprising all the phases necessary to reach the final product from the steel plate.
In a first mechanical phase, the part is shaped by means of presses and lathes. In an intermediate step, through electro-chemical processes, the parts are degreased and stripped. And finally, also through electrochemical processes, they are coated with enamel that, when fired at temperatures above 800 ºC, completes the process, achieving absolute protection against chemical agents and temperature, as well as a wide variety of shapes and decorative colors. .
The essential raw materials are sheet steel and enamel. The first, manufactured in the large European steel companies, is purchased from Spanish transformers. The enamel is manufactured by multinationals installed in Spain.
1. THE PROCESS OF STAMPING, REPULSING AND WELDING
It starts from special steel sheet, rolled to different thicknesses, and which comes from the main world steel companies.
The sheet is mechanically transformed by means of presses, to obtain the different formats of the pieces that will then be welded with other products and later pickled and enameled.
The spinning technique consists mainly in the deformation by rotation of all types of metals without the need for expensive dies or weld beads.
The material from which we start we transform it by means of presses into circular developments to later deform and achieve the desired shape.
In this way, shapes of great difficulty are achieved starting from materials with greater thicknesses than those that could be deformed in conventional machines. The initial thickness is stretched until the desired height is obtained but keeping the volume of material unchanged.
To cold deform St-37 sheet thicknesses ranging from 0.5mm to 1.8mm and disc diameters from 10 to 800mm. The incorporation of the numerical control to the spinning machines allows to achieve really complex shapes and not just cylindrical or conical components.
2. STRIPPING / DEGREASING PROCESS
2.1 Degreasing
The purpose of degreasing is to eliminate the exogenous materials present on the surface of the steel, coming from previous process stages: protection oils, drawing oils, dust. Therefore, degreasing is a very important stage in the surface preparation process.
There are several parameters that must be controlled:
- The nature of the degreaser product.
- The degreasing temperature, which must be between 60 and 90 ° C depending on the process used.
- The concentration of the degreasing product (45 to 50 g / l).
- The pH of the degreasing tanks.
- The treatment time (15 minutes in immersion – a few minutes in spraying).
- The mechanical action, if applicable (shaking the bath or spray pressure).
The most frequently used process is alkaline degreasing. Alkaline solutions can produce three different physical-chemical actions:
- Saponification: fatty substances dissolve in contact with an aqueous solution of soda or potash, forming soluble soaps.
- Emulsion: phosphates or silicates cause the dispersion of fats in fine droplets.
2.2 Rinse
Rinsing is the post-degreasing process that can be carried out in one or more stages:
- a single rinse with hot water (60 to 70 ° C) in the case of processes that include a subsequent surface treatment (stripping, etc.)
- rinsed with hot water, cold water and demineralized water, in the case of processes without subsequent surface treatment.
2.3 Pickling
The purpose of pickling is to produce an attack on the steel surface in order to increase its micro-roughness and, therefore, its reactivity, which favors the adherence of the enamel. Generally, the pickling is carried out with concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and the chemical attack mainly affects the contour of the grains. The intensity of the pickling is measured as a function of the loss of iron.
3. GLAZING PROCESS
Enamel is a mixture of clays and metallic compounds, prepared in our workshops, which is applied to the surface of the piece and subsequently subjected to a treatment at high temperatures (more than 800 ºC), to achieve its ideal firing or vitrification.
In this state, the final piece acquires a hard, shiny, colorful, highly resistant layer to temperature and chemical agents, which makes it especially suitable for cooking in any type of kitchen as well as decorative.
Note: pickling, degreasing and enamelling are carried out by introducing the metal parts in electrolytic baths, at different temperatures, where ion exchange occurs.
The electrolysis is carried out by means of equipment called current rectifiers that transform alternating electrical current into direct current. Thermal processes use natural gas as an energy source.
4 PACKAGING AND SHIPPING PROCESS
We can raise three obvious points among which our production process arises: Production, distribution and marketing.
The purpose of the packaging system is to facilitate the collection, packaging and classification of goods for shipment, protecting them from physical and environmental risks during storage, transport and the consumer acquires it, guaranteeing that it is in the same quality conditions as it had in the time of its manufacture.
For this, shrink wrap machines and case sealers are used.
